Dressing Up for Easter - Girls Edition

The Easter holiday is just around the corner.  I hope the weather will be wonderful, at least on Easter Sunday and Monday.  That way the girls can show more of their lovely dresses outside as they will inside.

Girls, from toddlers to size 16, have an assortment of gorgeous dresses made for them in every shade of the rainbow.  My little girl is now a young lady, but I still love looking at the sweet, pretty dresses for the little ladies' in training.

Cotton Wedding Dresses? Glad and Surprised!

It's June (already!!) and my daughter was part of a group of people catering a wedding reception over the weekend.  That brought back to me the fact that I haven't posted wedding dresses on this blog for a long time.

While looking at wedding sites, I ended up on a Jamaican wedding dress website whose company made cotton wedding dresses in plus sizes.  Cotton?  I didn't know women were buying cotton wedding dresses or  that designers were making them for sale.  I'm very happy about that!  As someone who's cost conscious, I'm glad that women can buy beautiful dresses to celebrate their wedding day at prices that won't put them into serious debt.

Aren't they beautiful?  I'm excited and eager to experiment with making wedding dresses out of this affordable fabric.  I'm not done yet, here's more photos of wedding dresses in traditional fabrics.

Summer Whites - Dresses

Ahh, the summer is here!  We can wear our flip flops, we can where summery clothes, feel the breeze and be free.

What I like about this summer is the color white for clothing, mainly dresses.  No, I'm not thinking about weddings, but the dresses I'm showing you this week can be worn for those who want a simple and inexpensive wedding.  I'm thinking more about bright, light colors and a sunny feel to clothes, white being one of the colors that can give that feeling.

Experimenting and Keeping a Promise

When we get too preoccupied, we tend to forget what we said we would do.  It's not a good thing, but it happens none the less.  I've remembered a bit too late (but late is better than never) that I said in my blog titled "What a Girl Wore to Two Weddings" (May 22, 2010 post) I would post full pictures of a dress I made for my daughter for a wedding when she was around 9 years old.  Well, I'm finally keeping my word (lol).

The dress is a girl's size 8/10 and has a vintage look.  My daughter looked really lovely in it.

The reversible tunic below was in response to the blog I posted last week (Stretch Your Dollar - Buy Reversible, November 27, 2010).  My daughter wanted me to make her a hoodie.  Due to time constraints, we agreed to my making a top for her.  Well, I decided to try making a reversible top and ended up with a tunic that reaches almost mid-thigh.  It will be good for the winter season due to it's thickness from two layers of clothe.

I will be experimenting with making another reversible garment,  maybe a reversible pant with the same blue and black fabrics.  I bought quite a lot of both since they were on sale.   You can check out www.wix.com/skclothes/SK for other SK Clothes designs.  Till next blog!
