Knits for Any Season - Missoni

Cruising through the web, looking for new fashion styles, I came across a photo of a Missoni design.  I'm always astonished and amazed at Missoni's creativity with color, the famous zigzag patterning which is this company's signature, and the lightness of the knits created.  So, this means we can wear knits and look fantastic any time of the year!

Who Designed That Stunning Dress?

Essence magazine features fashionably dressed stars regularly.  I have to say, these popular entertainers look absolutely wonderful in the dress choices they've made. Which came first, the stunning color or the design?  Details such as ruffled, pleated sleeves using firm fabrics, multiple colors and volume using flowing fabrics, make the designs outstanding!

I'd love to know the name of the designer for each piece!

High Fashion Wow!

It's the last week, actually, the last day of Black History Month. Everyone by now has heard of, and have probably seen, Black Panther.  This film was one of the most anticipated and is one of the most celebrated movies.  An all Black cast, a credible script, the rich African costumes, futuristic of course!

I have to post what some of the stars of this movie were wearing on the red carpet.  Just wonderful and extravagant style!

Wearable Crochet: Erika and Monika Simmons Designs

Erika and Monika Simmons are twins who design colorful and unique crochet clothing for women.  Both first learned to crochet in grade 4.  After graduating from child development and sociology programs in college, they, because of their love for creativity, were working as hair braiders, print models, taught fitness classes and also were employed as dancers for music videos. Apparently all these jobs didn't increase the amount of money earned, so Erika and Monika revived their crocheting skills during a tight Christmas season to create inexpensive gifts for family.  These garments are the lovely results coming out of a need.  And there's plenty more beautiful crocheted creations to see, and purchase, from the Simmons twins.

What to Wear to Weddings

Question?  Are most weddings held on the weekends, making Saturday probably the most popular day to get married?  I believe so.  I also think that most weddings are held during the spring and summer seasons for obvious reasons.

Many of you may be attending a wedding during the warm seasons and wondering what to wear.  Here are a few ideas;  the colors, prints, fabrics and details are fantastic!

All Around the World

Fashion is an international visual language.  Creativity in clothing can be found anywhere on the globe.  I hope you enjoy the designs I've posted today.  Glad the world has many different cultures with their own twist on fashion.   The gorgeous dresses here belong to ( in order) Norway, Canada (designed by a Native Canadian designer), Japan and the last dress is an African inspiration.

Neo Soul Style

Neo Soul.... do you know I just learned this term last week?  I was researching one of the late 80's early 90's bands by the name of Soul II Soul.  They're a British band, or rather, a neo soul band.  Loved their music, and definately loved their style.

Definition of Neo Soul?  A musical mix of R&B, 70s soul and hip hop.   Neo Soul style? A mix of of the same 3 genres producing clothing full of soul.

The Hawaiian Perspective

Hawaii is a very beautiful island.  It's one of the destinations at the top of my list when I dream about places I'd like to visit.  Although, the long flight over the ocean would be very trying for me;  I'd be wearing the life vest the airline provides for the entire flight (lol).

Hawaiian clothing is just as attractive as the island itself. The distinctive prints and bright lively colors reflect the people who wear this island's fashion.

Appealing Pants for Fun in the Sun

Pants for spring and summer come in quite a few styles: capris, jogger, harem, wide leg, straight leg, etc.  Print fabrics for pants are noticeably popular and a wonderful option. Women have a lot of choices with pants this year. My favorite are the jogger and harem pants.  Love the loose and comfortable fit which will fit in perfectly with some of the places I hope to visit this season.
