Alicia Maxie - Rhode Island Fashion Designer

I love to see the work of fashion designers that may not be as well known as the high fashion celebrity designers.  They're work is just as inspirational and influential in the fashion world among those that view clothes as more than something to wear.


Alicia Maxie is one of these designers.  Designs by Alicia was started in 2009 in Rhode Island to serve the women looking for current and elegant clothes.  Alicia's creations are also available online for those outside of the Rhode Island area.

Love Indigenous Prints

Basically, different ethnicities have identifying fabrics unique to each one.  Many are very colorful with intricate designs.   On my list of favorite ethnic fabrics are the prints designed by the indigenous peoples of America, especially when used to design current fashionable clothing.  Love the colors!

Noteworthy Looks for New Year's Eve

 A belated Merry Christmas to you all!  My first post for December 2015 (and running out of time, so maybe the only for this month. Wishing to post next week before the end of the year).  Hope your Christmas was fantastic. Mine was good.  I gave an hour of my time to help others, and spent the rest of the day with family.  

The new year is just around the corner.  What to wear for some of the get togethers that you'll be participating in?

Sophisticated Black Clothing for Any Occasion

"A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance;"  (Eccl.  3:4)

Black is a sophisticated color.  It must be one of the most popular colors next to "denim jean" blue.  Black can be worn for many occasions whether joyful, sad, or business related.  I chose to look at black clothing  in honor of an older generation relative that passed this week.  This is also in remembrance of those in my family born in the early 1900's who passed in previous years.

Wedding Dresses for a Future Princess

North Americans just love the British.  Just look at how many British hosts there are on television now on talent shows for example.  We have something to look forward to this year: the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29, 2011! 

Kate seems to be a sensibly elegant dresser.  She looks great in what she wears, but doesn't bring too much attention to herself.  The clothes look good on her, not the other way around.  Based on these observations, I decided to pick a few wedding dresses I think would compliment her.

Most likely Kate's wedding dress will be a bit more elaborate, as befitting a future princess, but I think the dress will follow along the lines of those above, with a long train of course.  I could be wrong, but I can't wait to find out!  I will be getting up at 4 in the morning, wearing my best pajamas, eating toast and jam with a cup of coffee to keep awake!

There's one more wedding dress that caught my eye and I give it two thumbs up!
