More Spring and Summer Trends

Here's yet another post on spring and summer trends for the year 2012.  And I may add that I like every one of them.  One in particular is surprising to me, because it's a sporty garment that gets dressed up.

Bright colored wallets for women, striped and white shoes, and sweatpants are all in style this season.  Nothing wonderful about sweatpants?  Well, the sweatpant is all dressed up with heels and a dressy blouse.  That's unusual, but it works.

Stand Out News Anchors

I love watching the news.  Sometimes I'm flipping back and forth to several news channels that have the same time slot.  Well, being one who loves seeing fashionable people,  and being from the Toronto, Ontario area, I've (no surprise) spotted a few Toronto news anchors whose styles and personalities I admire.

You can let me know if there are any you admire I can post in a future blog.

I'm loving the short hair on these women.  As we're inundated with long hair on women today, (and what is coming to my mind are the reality shows "The Housewives of whatever city you care to fill in here"), it's very refreshing to see short hair on some women.  An up-to-date cut combined with fantastic clothes is absolutey vogue to me.  I'm considering cutting mine.

Spring Forecast: Print Dresses

With spring arriving, it's time to look at what's the trend for this wonderful season.  It's the season to go outdoors and have fun in the warmer weather wearing comfortable and attractive clothing in breathable fabrics.  Clothes with movement is a definate must.

Print dresses, in almost any fine or bold print, are one of the trends for spring 2012, both short and long.  My preference is the long dress.  I'm envisioning myself in a floral maxi dress with big hair and flip flops for this year, lol.

Knitted Fashion is Coming Back

Are knitted clothing making a come-back?  You be the judge.  Knitting is not just for hats and mittens anymore, which it was traditionally used for from the 1980's.  You can find pants, leggings, dresses, blouses, and fashionable bags (yes, bags, well the one posted is part fabric and part knit, but it's lovely!).

According to an article called "A History of Knitting" by Amber Allen, www.wrytestuff.com, knitting is the art of knotting.  Research shows that knitting may have been developed in the Middle East, moved to the Mediterranean and from there to Europe.  Hand knitting for profit was replaced by machine knitting (made the clothes and items more affordable) in the late 18th century during the Industrial Revolution.  Knitted clothes lost their luster between the late 1970's and 1980's, probably thought of as too crafty.  Well, the clothes you see here made between 2009 - 2011 do not look crafty at all!

Love These Lovely Looks!

My style is very acceptable and current, even though I love to see fashion forward silhouettes and looks on other people.  I've got to change that and wear one unusual piece when I go out.  For someone who loves to see the brave fashionistas wearing combinations of designs and colors that would make everyone's day more joyful, (well,  I think half would think "go girl!", and the other half would think "she's extra!") I sure play it safe.  I have to make a conscious decision to change that.

Here are a collection of current and fashion forward pieces that I just love!  The first three looks  have a demure but strong presence because of the soft sillhouettes and lovely color combinations.  The orange print knit legging pants, on the other hand, would probably have some people staring in horror.  I would definately wear them though; I find the pants very refreshing.  It's time for print pants and leggings to come into fashion.  Pants have been solid colors for too long!
