From Areas in Emergency: Focus on Designers

What a summer!  Fires, hurricanes and earthquakes!  Summer is technically over September 22, 2017, and I hope nothing else catastrophic will be happening.

For those recovering from the disasters that have happened, and are still happening, in British Columbia, Canada (wildfires), Texas (hurricane Harvey) and Florida  and some Caribbean islands (hurricane Irma), designers from each area are featured this week.

Tiffany Amber design, Florida, US.

League of Rebels, Texas, US

Allison Smith design, British Columbia, Canada

Calvin Southwell design, Antigua, Carribean

Praying for the quick restoration of each province, state, and island.  Till next blog.

For Men: Summer Colors, Summer Lengths

I was surfing channels last week when I heard the hosts of E Talk Canada (that's an entertainment news show, sister to the US program E Talk) mentioning what was in for men's clothing for spring and summer 2011.   And so I paused on that channel for the segment.  They said that grey and light colored suits are in for men.  Men's shorts should be slim lined and either just reach the knee or middle of the thighs (personally, I prefer the knee length for teens and men), and an accessory (made popular by Johnny Depp) that men should add to their spring and summer wardrobe is the light weight scarf, double wrapped around the neck.

I saw a few male t.v. personalities wearing grey suits with blue shirts over the past few months.  Blue and grey go so well together, at least for me.  Till next blog!

A Visit to the 1940's - Fashion

This week I'm focusing on the fashion of the early 1900's, specifically the 1940's.  This is the time that my grandparents would have been around the ages of 20 to maybe 35 years of age.  I've decided to take a "visit" to one of the decades of their youth.

Let's take a brief fashion photo tour of the 1940's.  These clothes were what  people were wearing about 60 years ago...

Time sure does fly.  One 82 year old woman told me that it didn't seem that long ago when she was a young woman, and she's surprised at how quickly the decades have passed.  I'm starting to understand...

Till next blog.

Appreciating Men's Fashion

I don't make men's clothing, but I decided to post pictures of men's clothing this week.  Most men wear the basics I guess.  As I've heard, they buy only what they need (the majority do; I'm sure there's a minority that just has to buy whatever is in fashion).

This is for the men out there, and for the women who have significant others.  You might get an idea of what to buy for yourself, and in the women's case, for your man.

The grey and khaki colored clothing just gives me a cool feeling, like a fresh breeze blowing, like sitting by a body of water.  If we have a heatwave next summer, I may very well focus on white, khaki and grey fabric for next year's spring and summer five piece line of SK Clothes.

Till next blog!
