Wood Clutches? Innovative!

I have a thing for clutches now.  Why?  They're not large in size, therefore I can't pack unecessary items.  They're sleek and feminine.  I've been making clutches made of recycled fabrics with wrist bands, and creating different designs and textures for interest.  They're the next best thing to crossbody bags.

I happened to click on a link to Etsy.com from my e-mail, and saw something incredible and original.  Wood clutches!  What an innovative idea.  A strong material used to make a ladies' accessory.  And they look attractive.

SK Clothes Styling for Fall 2010

I was impatient to do another video for SK Clothes because I'm still in the middle of sewing my daughter's line (yes, the summer line, but I already have a vision of how the summer pieces can be translated into fall pieces).  I had just bought the fabric in late August, but I found the exact fabric colors she wanted for her designs, and I bought them all on sale too!  It dawned on me to become a fashion stylist for a few hours yesterday and use SK Clothes designs with clothing from my daughter and my closets to make fresh fall looks for the junior miss age group.

We had fun, and, of course, my daughter was the model.  She took it up a few  notches with her poses for the camera.

Comfortable Style

This is my look for fall and winter 2010.  The clothing and accessories are all pieces that have been in style before and even last year.  The look is so flattering it has to be popular a few more years.  It's a nice casual look with a bit of flare.  Simple lines, easy fit, stylish and comfortable.  Notice that the leggings aren't absolutely clinging to the legs but have a very slight loose fit.  The tunique can be a long blouse or a short dress, as long as it reaches mid thigh.  The scarf adds extra interest to the look, and the boots (flat heels, yeah!)  are pure comfort and compliments the leggings.

SK's Stylish Man of the Week

Surfing Youtube a couple days ago, I stumbled upon Blair Underwood in a short video clip on a Black man hiking in California.  (I love Youtube.  You start out searching videos on one topic, and you finish with videos that have no connection to what you originally were researching.)  It was funny.  Then I clicked on the link about his novel (From Cape Town with Love) which he promotes through video about a bodyguard in Cape Town, South Africa.  It was watching these videos I saw him wearing a white shirt with white pants and a black blazer.  I was inspired. 

I searched Google to find a picture of this outfit in vain.  But there were other fantastic outfits this man put together wonderfully, but then he'd look good in a raggedy t-shirt.

I first saw Blair on the Cosby Show.  If he wasn't a director, actor and writer,  he could be modelling for top agencies.  He has a beautiful wife and three lovely children.  This man has a wonderful sense of style. Loving the clothes.  Keep on being an inspiration!

Stylish Clothes for the Junior Miss

We see the same "uniform" on certain groups of people.  For instance, new mothers' live in sweats and t-shirts.  Business people wear dark suits.  The blue collar set wear jeans and shirts.  So when I see someone on the street  wearing something unusual and stylish, I silently give them kudos for experimenting and making my day.

I tried to get my daughter to wear designs I made especially for her.  She'd wear them a couple times, but, as is the teens' habit, she wants to wear what her friends are wearing.  The fitted t-shirt, denim jeans and the hoodie.  The next day is: another fitted t-shirt, another denim jean, and, another hoodie.  Guess what she's wearing the third day?  Mmmmmhmmm.... (well, my son wears the same things, but why is it that we women focus more on girls getting dressed up than on boys?)

I guess the opportunity to get the junior miss to wear something different is to church, to a birthday party for a relative (an older relative), to a wedding, you get the picture.  Some of the styles I'd like to see on some young ladies once in a while are:

 

The teens have their "uniform", but there are the few who love to dress to stand out.  Teens have to be teens after all.  But I will continue to look for the junior miss whose fashion sense stands out in the crowd and silently give thumbs up...

Comparing Three Clothing Styles

 Variety is the spice of life.  There are so many styles and choices of clothing to choose from.I decided to compare three different styles of clothing today.  I already know what category I belong to.  Let me know what category you prefer if you wish.

1. Architechtural group,  the black and white outfit.   

2.  Bohemian group,  the taupe and black striped dress/blouse (I'd have to wear this over leggings or jeans).

Love the Tops for Spring 2010

Are you ready for spring?  I definately am.   I'm a spring and fall girl.  Too bad spring didn't last for four months instead of three...  I love to think ahead of time what I'll be wearing once the snow melts.

 Blouses are one of my favorite pieces of clothing.  Actually, I think it's my favorite piece.  While researching the women's tops for spring 2010, I found that the styles haven't changed too much from blouse styles for spring 2009.  Why change a good thing?  Many top designers are bringing 2009 blouse styling  into 2010.

What's the forecast for women's tops for spring 2010?  Well, any blouse that makes a lady look like a lady.   When shopping, look for ruffles in a shirt or blouse.  Office shirts are less tailored,  giving the shirts femininity.  Tunics and tunic style blouses, one of my favorite styles, are definately a must.  Colors in 2010 tops are not limited.  Look for lots of colors, whites,  neutrals, as well as floral and other prints.

Choose Your Dress

 Merry Christmas everyone!  It's the day after Christmas.  Already!  As I get older,Christmas just sneaks up on me even faster, and I cannot believe that Christmas is gone for 2009.  I think I'd better start buying presents from January 2010 and put them away for 2010 Christmas season...  Got a surprise for my birthday.  The flu.  The day before I thought I had allergies.  Luckily, the flu was 70% gone by Christmas day so I could celebrate with my  family.  Hope your day was much better! 

I declare 2010 the year of the dress.  That's because I would like to start wearing them.   I wear skirts, and it's usually to go to church.  Skirt and blouse.  Mix and match.  Various combinations.   Simplicity is to throw on a dress, voila.  Add a belt, jewelry, shoe or boot, sweater, jacket, shrug (pick one or two please, not all).  I was visiting a church one Sunday, and was looking at the clothing women were wearing, and saw there was a need for distinctive but understated dresses.

What is (or is going to be) the SK Clothes dress style and silhouette for 2010?  Well, I like knee length, short or 3/4 sleeves dresses with a straight or subtle A-line skirt and a semi-fitted bodice.  Details of some kind are a must, whether willowy ruffles, a few sharp pleats,  buttons,  or gathers.

I have two questions for you women out there.  Choose your dress for the occasion.  I don't mind if you let me know as well.  What dress would you choose to wear to:
