Stand Out News Anchors

I love watching the news.  Sometimes I'm flipping back and forth to several news channels that have the same time slot.  Well, being one who loves seeing fashionable people,  and being from the Toronto, Ontario area, I've (no surprise) spotted a few Toronto news anchors whose styles and personalities I admire.

You can let me know if there are any you admire I can post in a future blog.

I'm loving the short hair on these women.  As we're inundated with long hair on women today, (and what is coming to my mind are the reality shows "The Housewives of whatever city you care to fill in here"), it's very refreshing to see short hair on some women.  An up-to-date cut combined with fantastic clothes is absolutey vogue to me.  I'm considering cutting mine.

A Taste of Men's 2012 Spring Fashion

I'm admiring more and more the clothing available for men, maybe because I have a son entering into adulthood.  The slacks, shirts and suits for men this 2012 spring and summer season seem to be full of color, the shirts have unique prints, the suits have a slimmer silhouette, and ties are being worn more often (maybe I'll do a post on ties later on in the year).  I like what I'm seeing.  Consider this my part 1 blog of men's spring and summer 2012 clothes.  I'll have to post more pictures by this summer.

Looking so Good for Much Less $

I was flipping channels on tv one day last week, and what caught my eye?  An absolutely chic young woman on the Nate Berkus show.  I heard the word thrift.  Found out that this young stylish lady specializes in buying lovely clothes at very cheap prices.  She shops the thrift stores, and the price of the tan, flounced designer-look dress she was wearing on the show was about $7.00.    Whoa!

Her name is Patrice J. Williams.  Patrice has a blog called Looking Fly on a Dime (www.lookingflyonadime.com).  Looking Fly on a Dime is also on Facebook.  I'm going to like her page today.

I learned from Patrice that there are online thrift stores!  I never cease to be surprised about what's on the internet.  I shop at thrift stores now and then and found some new clothing as well as good quality gently used clothes.  I'm glad I found I can shop thrift from the comfort of my home now.  So today I searched for online thrift stores, and look what gorgeous items are for sale from between $6.99 and $13.99!

Spring Forcast: Print Pants with Wider Silhouettes

I'm so happy about the pant designs that are in for this spring and summer season.  Many fashion designers are including print pants in wider cuts in their collections.  It's refreshing to see a garment that's been styled in the same way for a few seasons get an absolute overhaul (or in terms we understand today, "facelift").  This makes spring and summer fashion more enticing.  I'm hoping to see many girls, teens and women wearing the wide legged, harem and even straight legged pants, in prints.  I might post your picture in my blog.

Spring Forecast: Print Dresses

With spring arriving, it's time to look at what's the trend for this wonderful season.  It's the season to go outdoors and have fun in the warmer weather wearing comfortable and attractive clothing in breathable fabrics.  Clothes with movement is a definate must.

Print dresses, in almost any fine or bold print, are one of the trends for spring 2012, both short and long.  My preference is the long dress.  I'm envisioning myself in a floral maxi dress with big hair and flip flops for this year, lol.

I Can't Pick a Favorite Bridal Gown

It's March, the month my parents' were married so many years ago.  I was looking at a bridal magazine last week, called Brides, dated June, 2010, and saw a pleated bridal gown that I just adored and inspired me (page 178, just in case any of you are interested).  So, though I was going to post pictures today on spring fashion trends, I've ended up posting on wedding dresses.  I can't choose a favorite. The wedding dresses are gorgeous!

A Few Different Things for 2012

You know, we all need a bit of a change once in a while.  Do you look through your wardrobe and dream of something absolutely wonderful to wear?  Something that has just become fashionable, whether it's a different cut of fabric, an unusual fabric or print used for a common garment, and possibly most of the population doesn't  know it exists yet?  Something that can mix and match with most of your wardrobe?  2012 is just as good a year as any to purchase that special piece to light up your year and style (lol). Don't spend a fortune, but do treat yourself.
