Noteworthy Looks for New Year's Eve

A belated Merry Christmas to you all!  My first post for December 2015 (and running out of time, so maybe the only for this month. Wishing to post next week before the end of the year).  Hope your Christmas was fantastic. Mine was good.  I gave an hour of my time to help others, and spent the rest of the day with family.

The new year is just around the corner.  What to wear for some of the get togethers that you'll be participating in?
Here are a few lovely ideas depending on the type of dress required for the occasions.

Colorful Coats for Winter

I was looking for coats online and in stores in October.  I didn't find what I was looking for in stores, but I did find it online.  Unfortunately, this coat was sold out.  It was a black quilted coat, about hip length.  This winter, I wanted to have a black coat.  Never owned a black coat before. But I'll be wearing my brown as well as purple coats this winter. That being said, here are some lovely and unique coats I would just love a chance to wear.

Forward with Future Fashion

I was telling a few people a few weeks ago that we are living in the future.  When I was a child, I heard about one day when we can see who we're talking to, live, on a phone.  I don't think I believed it.  Well, it's 2015 and we're skyping and looking at who we're talking to.  We don't have to leave home to shop (online shopping on the computer).  We can cook food within a few minutes (frozen foods and the microwave).  Tell me, why aren't we wearing these futuristic clothes yet?  I would love if I was living in the time when these clothes will be the norm.

The Look - 2015-16 Men's Clothing

These are just some of the great looking clothing combinations for men for fall and winter 2015-16.  The addition of color, the fitted garments, the combination of sporty and dress clothes, this is the making of a new men's look.  I give this 2 thumbs and 2 index fingers up (A++)!

True Native American Style

I just found out that a top fashion designer (who's not Native) had Native American inspired clothing going down the runway for fashion week he was involved in. The clothes were part of his fall/winter 2015 - 16 collection.  My appreciation for Native American prints and silhouettes have been awakened again.

Let's not forget the inspiration for the designs.  These  designs by Native American fashion designers are the real thing!

The Poncho Blouse

I bought a burgundy print knit fabric in June and at first was going to make harem capris.  When I looked at the fabric about 3 weeks ago, I decided to make a blouse.  What I made was inspired by a turtle neck poncho sweater I saw at Walmart a couple of months ago.  I made a short sleeve poncho blouse with a slit neck opening.

I looked online for poncho blouses afterwards (wasn't sure I had the phrase correct) and many photos came up for the phrase.  Many beautiful blouses in various fabrics and sleeve lengths.

Where was the poncho, the inspiration for the blouses, first made?  The poncho originated in Peru, according to Wikipedia, and worn by the Paracas about 500
B.C.  Europeans adopted the clothing style many years later, and now the poncho is a fashion item for women in this day and age.

Young Africa Designs

Aaaahhhh.... the young African fashion designers (by young, I mean anywhere from 18 - 45 years old, lol...) are creating some incredible clothes.  I saw some innovative designs by Africans, online, that made my mouth drop.  There are some fantastic ideas in terms of silhouettes ( take a look at Blacktrash designs for example.... yes, the name astounded me, but the clothing is phenomenal...) and there are lovely combinations of fabrics, colors and prints.   Applause!

Flattering Flats Fad

Last Saturday evening, I took my daughter shopping for shoes.  We had both finished work in the evening, and she called my cell and asked if I wanted to shop for shoes.  I was ready to go home and take it easy, but I decided to go with her.  I did promise her a week before  that I would treat her to a pair of shoes, so better to go Saturday than a few days later.  And I did spend quality time with my son on Friday (took him to a movie) so it was the daughter's turn.

Well, she found a fabulous pair of 2" (they might be 3" high actually) wedge heeled sandals  with a great brown print on the wedges, the strapped part in black.  I told her even I would wear those shoes (if I were able to stand in high heels longer than half an hour) because they look just lovely.  But I don't wear heels higher than 1".  Love to be comfortable in my clothing and accessories.  I did buy a couple of flats about a month ago, one a cherry red color, and very comfortable, and the other in a light brown color with a hint of an orange tint.   And so this post is dedicated to flats (and a sandal).

Men's Streetstyle 2015

It's very interesting to see what men are wearing this year.  From the pics I've seen online, there seems to be a gradual change in men's style of dress from what we've been used to.  And it's time... Women change constantly, that's a given, but men take a while to change their looks.

The men's streetstyles  posted are from London, Milan and Toronto and Paris.  Do you like what you're seeing?

Working Together - Dress and Pant Duo

I was looking at the New York Magazine website on the streetstyle link and I see women wearing dresses over pants.  Not only leggings, but regular slacks!  Anything goes... and I like the look of this "anything goes" look. Nothing unecessary is revealed and the women look fashion current.
